With a new administration taking the helm, Portland stands at a pivotal moment of transition—a time to reimagine how our city serves all who call it home. This period, spanning from election day through the first months of the new mayor’s term, is a rare opportunity to redefine the priorities that will guide Portland forward. Portland United for Change is here to ensure that Portlanders’ voices are heard, so we can build a progressive agenda centered on the issues that matter most to our communities.

Our coalition began in 2022 with a mission to make Portland’s government more effective, accountable, and representative. By passing Measure 26-228 with the support of 58% of Portland voters, we achieved critical electoral changes:

Ranked-Choice Voting

Giving voters the power to rank candidates by preference.

District Representation

Creating city council districts to enhance accountability to communities.

Community Safety

Addressing longstanding racial disparities and reforming community safety to eliminate inequities in the justice system. Accurate data collection, particularly race data, will be essential for real accountability.
